In Florida, children under 6 years old must be secured in a federally approved child seat or booster seat.

Budget / Avis: $13 per day with a maximum fee of $65
Dollar / Thrifty: $13 per day with a maximum fee of $91
Sixt: $11.49 per day with a maximum fee of $98

Payment is made directly to the car rental companies upon arrival and is per 30 days.
You can take your own car seat with you but please check with the airline to see if there are any additional charges and if it counts towards your overall weight allowance. Its also worth noting that very few UK child seats meet US FMVSS 213 Standards though so please check first.
Virgin Atlantic: Passengers travelling with infants or children ca bring a fully collapsible pushchair and car seat in addition to their free check in luggage allowance
British Airways: 1 Fully collapsible pushchair and 1 car seat
American Airlines: 1 pushchair / stroller and 1 car seat. May require checking in.
Thomson: Strollers or car seats are carried free of charge. If you intend to take both, this will make up part of your luggage allowance.
Thomas Cook: If child has their own seat, a stroller and car seat will be carried free of charge. If infant is travelling on your lap, they may bring three of the following free of charge - 10KG baggage, a stroller, travel cot or a car seat.
For children aged 6 and over, why not buy a BubbleBum or a Trunki BoostApak from Amazon. These usually cost £30 to £35.
Purchase one from WalMart when you arrive for approximately $30+. This option would mean you would need to purchase the child seat and return to the airport to collect the little one so is not ideal.
